Mistic has devoted over 15 years of his life studying and mastering the art of Drum and Bass, Exploring all aspects of the scene from Mcing, Djing at free party and radio to producing. He has finally found his ground with his sound and record label.

Mistic has an incredible versatility that seems to transcend beyond the boundaries of drum & bass but is thoroughly rooted in the dark side of the genre, Influences of Ragga and Dub with a mixture of Hardcore and Hip Hop can be found in his music along with a dramatic tension that can usually be heard right from the outset of his tunes and can be described as cinematic in its scope and scale whilst maintaining a heavy dance floor sound and sub sonic bassline.

Mistic says that he see's mixing two tracks on the decks the same as mixing down a track in the studio, He is known for paying great attention to detail on EQing and level control and also playing entire sets of exclusive content never heard before.

In 2004 Dark Wax was born with Mistic's first release and has since then had a number of releases on the Canadian label Isolation Tank and has an album out now (No Remorse LP).

His plans for now are to continue pursuing his career as a producer Dj and to push Dark Wax in different directions and to put them on map as a strong urban record label.

Inspired by his dads band Aswad and there success Mistic says he will never stop writing music and will continue to improve and evolve his skills in the studio and production in other styles of music.
Q & A with Mistic

Q: Where does your artist name come from?
A: My tag was Mist back in school but there was some other dude called Mist so I changed mine to Mistic and the rest is history

Q: Tell us more about your musical roots!
A: Well my Dad was a drummer for Aswad so I got a lot of influence from him, I started playing the drums and just kept moving forward in the music scene trying out new things till I eventually found jungle in the 90s and I knew this was the music I wanted to make.

Q: How did you start producing music?
A: I started out in collage and didn’t learn a thing, I eventually got my own set up and I’ve been learning ever since

Q: Are you also a DJ?

A: Yeah, I started Djing before I started producing

Q: Do you work together with other artists also? E.g. Remixes?

A: Yeah, mainly with the guys from my label, Brainwash and Warlok and I have loads of remixes coming out for other labels soon, fun times!!

Q: Do you have any special musical aims?
A: To put heart and soul into my music and not jump on any bandwagons just because everyone else is doing it, I also want to reflect that in my own label

Q: What do you think of the contemporary popular music which is played by normal radio stations?
A: I don’t care and I don’t listen to it!

Q: What have you read recently (book, play, film, etc.) that moved or surprised you?

A: Probably every real life documentary I watch and notably An Inconvenient Truth

Q: What is your all-time favorite track? Why?
A: Ahh man there is to many tunes I love but off the top of my head Noisia – Block Control, I love the tight powerful beats and that stabbing bassline hits the frequencies I love and sounds so sick on a proper rig

Q: What's one thing you're a fan of that people might not expect?
A Wildlife, I’m a big fan of the planet we live on and the animals we live with.
